ClassesWe offer a variety of classes including a couple in basic knitting and basic crocheting. Make sure you tell your friends or family who want to learn a new hobby. For the rest of you, come learn how to make some sweaters, socks and purses. We may add a few more specialty classes. Make sure you check with us at the store. We hope to teach a lace class soon. All-day workshops with Lucy NeatbyLucy from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is a renowned hand-knitter and designer. She owns Tradewind Knitwear Designs. Learn more about her at www.tradewindknits.com Saturday, May 10: Every way but loose! Multidirectional knitting. An overview of a variety of ways of knitting in different directions on the same piece of fabric. Log cabin, entrelac, equilateral triangle, knitting, creating a hexagon or continious strips for folded construction, freeform knitting, counterpane and domino knitting. Sunday, May 11: “Socks for all Seasons.” Work on a mini sock from the top down with common heel and a DIY sock recipe for all occasions. Use of different type of heels Casting on, including Channel Island cast on. The pros and cons of right and left sock, customizing socks for eccentric feet, ways to incorporate extra warmth & padding. Heels, turning, knitting up sts. when and how to decrease.
